ClassroomSync

2017-2021

Summary

ClassroomSync was an Education Technology (EdTech) Software Startup that aimed to aid schools in allowing their students to use their personal devices in the classroom. The software was a two-part application, where Teachers would access their portal from a website and students would use the ClassroomSync app on their personal devices and phones. Students would have a downloadable app that would contain many different sub-apps. Some of these sub-apps included flash cards, calculators, textbooks, internet browsers and many other study and educational resources. The teacher would have a website with a roster of every student enrolled in their active class and could tell when students were using the ClassroomSync app and what sub-apps they were using. The product used our specifically developed Non-Intrusive Monitoring technique that only reported information to teachers when students were using the ClassroomSync app. The goal of ClassroomSync was to save schools money on buying students personal laptops for school and tap into the capable phones that the students already brought with them on a daily basis to school.

The product was first publicly exhibited in the Future of Education Technology Convention (FETC) in Orlando, Florida in 2017. ClassroomSync was then accepted into the Gator Hatchery at the University of Florida in 2018 to aid in its growth and the company also selected to competed in the Startup Challenge North Florida competition in 2018.

Summary

Over the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Collin became very fluent with a software called QGIS and the open-source database OpenStreetMaps. From experimenting with these tools, he was able to create over 8,000 variations and created an automated online marketplace to sell these images. After multiple large batch releases, the shop had over 440 locations, each with many different colors and sizes available. During the first couple of months of operation, Collin would hand print the posters in a local poster-printer and fulfil the orders. Eventually he learned about online print-fulfilment that would take a fee and print and ship any image to any address that was given. This method of business prevented Remarkable Roads from needing to have a stockpile of inventory of its many different types and sizes of maps.

This online store would be completely automated by utilizing a custom Python script that would send ordered images to the online print-fulfilment business in a completely hands-off method. The business has operated consistently and is a small steady fully-passive stream of monthly extra income.

Summary

Towards the end of Collin's Master's program at the University of Florida, he came up with the idea for another fully-automated business. All throughout college, he had made friends with people who loved their respective sports team and over the duration of his college experience had gained a love for the Florida Gators. Around this time, he had found an interest in web-scraping and wanted to put his skills and passion to the test to create a web-scraper that could collect the names of past and current players for any sports team. Once acquiring these lists of names, he created a tool that would organize and arrange the lists of names into the shape of the team that they represent. His web-scraper collected over one-hundred thousand athletes all from different years and sports leagues. As of now, he has teams in the National Football League (NFL), College Football, National Hockey League (NHL), National Basketball Association (NBA), and Major League Baseball (MBA)

Summary

JoyRidr was a transportation company that would've been based in Gainesville, Florida. The concept for the business was to convert a 40-foot-long passenger shuttle bus into a mobile event space. The interior of the bus would be extensively built from the ground up and would be built to last. It would feature multiple loud sound systems, fully-functioning bar with coolers as well as a bathroom in the rear. The bus could be suited for a multitude of uses. The bus could be used solely as a memorable transportation method to allow the fun to be continued from point A to point B or the bus could be used as the event space itself.

We had done an extensive budget and fundraising campaign reaching our $15,000 goal by selling equity to multiple investors. However, during the search for insurance as well as finding the ideal buy to purchase, the Covid-19 Pandemic erupted and it was decided that there was no longer a need for such a service for the time being.
